About I-37

From Corpus Christi, TX (US 181) to San Antonio, TX (I-35)

Interstate 37 is a short north-south route of about 143 miles entirely within Texas, connecting Corpus Christi on the Gulf coast with San Antonio. Despite its odd number, the route is relatively brief and serves chiefly as a link between a major port city and a large inland metropolis. It crosses the South Texas brush country between the two cities.

From its southern terminus near the port of Corpus Christi, the route runs northwest through small towns and ranchland to reach San Antonio, where it ends at I-35 and I-10. It carries port-related freight, energy-sector traffic from the surrounding oil and gas region, and travel between the coast and central Texas.
